- For duration of War. Contenental Troops: Captain David Plunket's Troop, 4th Regiment Light Dragoons, Cavalry Commanded by Stephen Moylan Esq.
"The Pennsylvania Line 4th Continental Dragoons
[Troop D1], commanded by Capt. David Plunkett, of Maryland. His prior service had been as a second lieutenant in Smallwood's Maryland Regiment. Appointed a captain in the 4th Continental Light Dragoons on January 10, 1777, he was taken prisoner on October 20 of that year (location and circumstances unknown, although possibly in conjunction with the defense of Fort Mercer, near Red Bank, New Jersey), and resigned from the army on March 13, 1779. Possibly to fill this vacancy, Peter Manifold was promoted to captain from first lieutenant on April 14, 1779. One of the comparatively few Pennsylvania officers, he had originally joined the regiment as a cornet, on April 14, 1778, being promoted barely two weeks later (on May 1) to lieutenant. He resigned on October 30, 1780. Apparently the vacancy remained unfilled for some time.

I just made the following posting to the Dutch Colonies list and thought
there would be some interest here as well.
With the recent discussion of Daniel Brouwer and Maria Koning on the
list, I thought I'd take the time to put down what I had. My line goes
through Daniel to his son John and then John's son David. I've tried to
note my sources where possible. Notice that I do have some very precise
birth dates for a number of the children. These are from an LDS
Ancestral File that I referenced. During my research, I found that this
particular Ancestral File was very accurate so I do have some faith that
these dates are true even though I truly have no idea of their source.
I did make an attempt to do a reality check on or validate most of these
dates based on other resources. If you have any particular questions
let me know. If anyone notices any errors, I'd appreciate the notice so
that I can get me records corrected.
Steve Brewer
Daniel A. Brouwer (son of Abraham Brouwer and Leah Demarest) was
baptized in the Hackensack DRC on July 5, 1719 (Hack:121). He married
Maria Koning (daughter of Abraham Koning and Susanna De Forrest) in the
Hackensack DRC on October 10, 1743 (Hack:61). Daniel's gravesite at the
Mud Meeting House in Harrodsburg, Mercer Co, KY says he was a member of
the New York militia during the Revolutionary War. I found a reference
in Indiana DAR Vol. 1 claiming: SERVICE: Daniel Brower, private in the
Dutchess Co., Militia under Capts. Brinkerhoff, Brower and Bunschaten.
Daniel has tax records in Straban Township, York Co, Pa from 1779 - 1786
for 200 acres of land. Daniel died in Mercer Co, Ky in February 1791.
(Daniel Brower Mercer Co, Ky Will Book 1, Page 49. Names eldest son,

Demaree, Sr.. Written January 15, 1791. Witnesses: Peter Demaree,
Frances Monfort and John Demaree. Proved February 22, 1791.) Maria
Koning appears to have died prior to 1791 but I've never seen any
documentation of her death. I believe that Daniel, Maria and the
unmarried children along with John and Jannetje, Susanna and Samuel,
Mary and Cornelius left the Conewago Colony for Kentucky about 1786.
Abraham and Sarah appear to have left the colony for Kentucky about a
year earlier. Some of Daniels married daughters didn't move to Kentucky
until a few years later.
Daniel and Maria had the following children:
1) Leah Brewer was baptized in the Schraalenburgh DRC on July 15, 1744
(Schraal:95) She married James Stagg (son of Cornelius Stagg and Antje
Christi) in the Schraalenburgh DRC on October 13, 1765 (New Jersey

1810 in Kentucky. James died May 4, 1825 in Kentucky.

Township, York Co, Pa from 1779 - 1783. In 1783 he has no land.
Abraham died July 1828 in Mercer Co., KY. Abraham was among the group
of Dutch men from the Conewago Colony that made the first expedition to
central Kentucky around 1783. This fits in with the gap in his children
from 1781 to 1786.
Abraham and Sarah had the following children:

1770 in NJ(Schraal:168)). He married Theodocia Durland on June 2, 1794

and Catherine Van Houten) in the Schraalenburgh DRC on December 1, 1768
(New Jersey Colonial Documents). Susanna died between 1791 and 1810.
Samuel has tax records in Straban Township, York Co, Pa from 1772 - 1784
on about 110 acres of land. Samuel died December 20, 1810 in Shelby Co,
KY. (DEMAREE, SAMUEL - Shelby Co, Ky Dec. 20, 1810. March C. C. 1811.

was baptized in the Schraalenburgh DRC on August 30, 1752 (Schraal:122).
She married Henry Comingore (son of) about 1772 in New Jersey. Rachel
died about 1836 in Kentucky. Henry has tax records in Straban Township,
York Co, Pa from 1779 - 1793. Part of this may be his son Henry.
Rachel and Henry had the following children:

records in Straban Township, York Co, Pa from 1775 - 1784. Samuel has
tax records in Straban Township, York Co, Pa from 1772 - 1784. This may
be both Samuel and his father? Mary's brother John was appointed
guardian of the children after the death of Cornelius (John Brewer
Mercer Co, Ky Order Book 1, Page 190. John Brewer appointed guardian to
Daniel, Cornelius, Anne and Sarah Cozine, orphans of Cornelius Cozine,

Mary "Polly" (House) Salter (daughter of John House and Sarah Harbison,

February 1822. His will names wife Polly (and her heirs), Abraham,
John, Samuel, Henry, heirs of David, Garret, Daniel, Charity, Mary and
Jane. There is a Shelby County, KY marriage record for Mrs. Mary
Brewer and Cornelius Bice on August 26, 1823. Through various pieces of

Cornelius would then be the widow of John's niece Mary Demaree (sister
Susanna's child).
